Scaling Manufacturing

Situation

An OEM client needed to scale their first two alpha systems and their end-user customer needed 10 systems delivered within eight months.

Problem

The system assembly and test documentation was incomplete. Additionally, there was limited floor space, technicians, supply chain, and infrastructure available for quick production scaling.

Solution

The client's systems were delivered to their customer within the eight-month timeframe as a result of three phases of work:

• Phase 1: the Owens Design technical experts help build the first tool at the client's location with customer/redline docs/move BOM in MRP
• Phase 2: the second and third system assemblies were executed at Owens Design with the client's experts onsite here
• Phase 3: the remaining systems were assembled and tested at Owens Design, including material purchasing (full turnkey)
