For over 35 years ODI has been developing leading edge manufacturing equipment in the Silicon Valley, specializing in the development of complex, high speed, high precision and mission-critical process, metrology, and automation factory equipment.
We are seeking an individual to join our Technical Lead team. The main objectives of a Technical Lead are to support the power-up, alignment, calibration, and testing of industrial tooling for customers in a variety of sectors. This team is highly dynamic – Technical Leads typically get involved in 5+ projects each year, collaborating with technicians and engineers. Exposure to mechanical, electrical, and software systems of tools help build up experience and present the opportunity for specialization.
This role is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys being hands-on with high-tech automation equipment, honing their dexterity to tune machines with high precision and accuracy, exercising troubleshooting skills to solve technical problems, and learning about industry trends.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read mechanical drawings to ensure parts and assemblies are within spec.
- Read electrical schematics to verify wiring and components are correctly installed.
- Using understanding of components, determine when corrections (redlines) to mechanical and electrical documents need to be made.
- Facilitate and power-up tools in a safe manner.
- Carry out software installation, mechanical alignment, calibration, and testing to bring tools to operation, meeting specification.
- Create documentation and procedures to capture fine details of tool bring-up.
- Inspect tools to ensure proper build quality.
- Communicate with project managers to share progress and highlight issues!
- Travel to customer sites to assist with installation and field service.
Qualifications
- Have (or working towards) a BS degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Software)
- Experience in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD)
- Experience in PLC programming software (TwinCAT, GXWorks)
- Ability to use hand tools and testing equipment in a manufacturing environment (wrenches, drills, levels, multimeters, etc.)
- Ability to understand technical documentation such as user manuals and datasheets.
- Basic understanding of industrial tools and their functionality
- Authorized to work in the United States
- Availability to travel to support customers (domestic and international)
- Excellent communication, organization, and information conveying skills.
- Motivation to learn from and assist the team.
Salary Range: $30 – $45 / hr
